Introducing myself

Hey. I'm Nikki and I really care about the environment.

I wanted to start this blog as a way to write about a topic that I am really passionate about (sustainability and the environment), and show people that it is so easy and simple to make small changes which can help the world. Disclaimer: I am not perfect. I buy things covered in plastic, I'm not vegan and sometimes I buy clothes I don't need just because I want them and it makes me happy. But over the past year or so I have become so much more aware of my impact on the environment, and honestly the future of our world terrifies me and maybe this blog can help in the tiniest way, even if that is just to keep myself accountable for what I do. On the other hand I am also pretty optimistic in believing a lot of people are trying to make changes, and if you are one of those people but don't know where to start maybe this will also help. 

This has been something I have wanted to start for a while now, but never really had the confidence to do. But today I just thought f*** it and I am going to give it a go. Maybe in a few months I won't have any ideas left, or maybe in a few months I'll have found something I really enjoy doing and want to keep up. But for now, I am just going to start and see what happens. 

So maybe I should introduce myself before we get into the confusing world of sustainability. My name is Nikki, I am 22 and I live in a tiny village in the UK that has a post box and nothing else. My parents are from the Netherlands so I'm pretty proud to say that I am technically Dutch, even though I seem very British. Currently I am studying an MA in International Relations, which is also a pretty heavy subject to learn and write about, but it really is interesting and definitely one of the best decisions I have made. My favourite animals are cows and whales, because I think they are both beautiful creatures and when I saw a whale in the wild for the first time I cried. I spend most of my free time watching YouTube and apart from that there isn't much else about me.

P.S. If anyone has any better ideas for blog names please tell me because I have no imagination what so ever and this blog name I've used in the past for other blogs I gave up on.
